Fr. Tom's Talk ...
What do you believe about Jesus? Each Sunday we proclaim the Nicene Creed as a statement of belief. Written in 325 by the First Council of Constantinople the creed was meant as a universal, doctrinal, statement of Christian faith. For many, who have said our creed every Sunday for years, it has become a habit. We forget the heated debates and controversy the creed caused.

What we believe and how we understand God is crucial. I encourage you to write down your own creed and look it over from time to time. A personal creed can be an excellent practice to a deeper relationship with God. Many years ago as a spiritual practice I wrote a personal creed. I share it with you below hoping it will help you get to know your new Rector; if you have questions, lets talk.

“I believe in God. The I am, who Created, Is Creating, Will Always Create. I believe in the Anointed One, Jesus the Christ, God’s Only Begotten Child. My brother and Lord, Jesus was conceived in the power of the Holy Spirit and born into the Hebrew family of Mary and Joseph.

He lived as I do in joy and suffering, and taught us that for every "Why" there is a Yes! He was crucified, died, and buried and placed into a tomb by friends. On the third day he rose again, appeared to many, and then to me. He returned into God’s heart, and is in intimate relationship with God. Jesus will return one day and be known by both the living and dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, Holy Wind that fills my life with Grace and opens my eyes to see. I believe in the community of all humanity, in all who gave and give birth to God’s presence. That my sins and failings have no power over me because of Jesus. That I too will live and experience face to face in the heart of God, Life Everlasting. Amen.”
Please let me know if you’d like to sit down and talk or enjoy a coffee, at a social distance of course, or feel free to call me. My office hours are Monday - Thursday 10 am - 3 pm. 785-670-0158; tbaker1102@yahoo.com.

But when he noticed the strong wind, Peter became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Matthew 14:30
All of us living through these pandemic times will appreciate Peter’s fear… the winds blowing against us are strong indeed. And as with Peter, Jesus reaches out to us and invites us in faith to be stronger than the wind.

Olathe Schools Outreach Program
St. Aidan’s participated in the Olathe Outreach Project again this year. Over 900 pair of underwear was donated. The delivery day looked very different from past years. Gift cards, toiletries, school supplies, and all other necessary donated articles were put in boxes with the family’s name. The family drove up to a designated place and their box along with a bag of groceries was placed in their car. The families were very appreciative. Kathy Mencer
