Jesus answered the devil, "It is written, One does not live by bread alone.'" Luke 4:4

Jesus' compassion for the poor and oppressed of his time is well documented in the Gospels. It's true, one doesn't live by bread alone, but if you're hungry, bread tastes pretty good! Lent is a perfect time for us to share our 'bread' with those who are hungry.
The Temptation of Jesus

In the Gospel reading from Luke, the devil tempts Jesus with com-fort, authority, and power. Jesus rejects the devil’s wiles, citing Scripture and relying on his relationship with God. What does the story of the Temptation say about Jesus, and what does it say about us?
