Fr. Tom's Talk ...
Packing and moving has reminded us of some important secrets Jesus taught us about living in God’s kingdom. First, my wife loves glassware and dishes. Even though we gave away many glasses and dishes we still had way too many boxes left over. Second, I must have given away a whole wardrobe of dress shirts, pants, tee-shirts (even a beloved Cubs tee-shirt!) and ties. Still I had an abundance of clothes to pack.

We kept thinking of what Jesus said about being clothed like the lilies of the field and not needing so much stuff. I have a hunch there will be more boxes and bags donated here in Olathe so that Jesus will stop haunting us about holding on to so much stuff and less to Him.

Thank you for your prayers and your kind offers to help as we have gone through this move. Hopefully we will get back to something closer to normal in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, we are very happy to be living here in Olathe. (Anyone need some empty boxes?)

Please let me know if you’d like to sit down and talk or enjoy a coffee, at a social distance of course, or feel free to call me. My office hours are Monday - Thursday 10 am - 3 pm.
When Jesus went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. Matthew 14:4
Compassion pops up repeatedly in stories about Jesus. It pops up repeatedly in stories about the early Christian community too, as it was admired even by its enemies for its care for the sick and poor. Can we do any less than offer compassion to all?

BackSnack Thank-You Breakfast
The Olathe Public Schools hosted a drive-thru appreciation breakfast July 29 for Back Snack donors and drivers. It is always a pleasure for St. Aidan’s to work with the district’s Community Liaison Heather Schoonover. Here are some pictures of this morning’s breakfast.

Thank you to Don and Janet Seifert for leading this important Back Snack Ministry at St. Aidan’s. Thank you to all the volunteers who help make this ministry possible.

St. Aidan’s is honored to partner with the Olathe Public Schools through our Back Snack Ministry, and the annual Underwear Drive, as well as our partnership with Briarwood Elementary School led by Kathy Mencer.
Johnson County Food Ministry at Center of Grace
Barb Belt is out of town for July and August. Please call Paul Reed at 913-269-4564 with any questions during this time.

We are making 125 meals, boxing them and distributing them outside - the dining room is still closed.

Volunteers will be needed to shop, prepare food, box the meals, make individual baggies of cookies/brownies, and hand out the packages at 5:30 that evening.
