Fr. Tom's Talk ... Purpose of the Church
Our building and property are places from which we are sent to join the work God is already doing in the world. The church is not meant simply to be a cozy sheltering place, but an equipping and strengthening place. A gathering of believers who give ourselves away because we dare to love Jesus and believe we are meant to be Jesus’ feet and hands in the world. St. Aidan’s exists to give who we are and what we have in order to make a difference in this community. We are called to emulate Jesus’ life and spirit and be part of the change our world needs. Loving. Joyful. Full of peace and committed to peacemaking. Patient. Kind. Generous. Faithful. Gentle, Humble.

So, dear friends, do not fall prey to worry about our numbers, shrinking resources, or absence of a particular demographic of people (i.e., children and families). God’s mission is about so much more than institutional survival. We have everything we need to do the work God wants us to do. We have been given a heritage from which we give witness to the transforming power of the love of Jesus, the Christ. We serve a God who loves, liberates, and brings new life. Let us embrace with faith and trust the Spirit’s leading as we listening and discerning together what shape our “missionary work” will take in the months and years to come.

Please let me know if you’d like to sit down and talk or enjoy a coffee, at a social distance of course, or feel free to call me at 785-670-0158, or email me at tbaker1102@yahoo.com. My office hours are Monday - Thursday 10 am - 3 pm. … Fr. Tom
Jesus said to them, "Why are you afraid Have you still no faith?"" Mark 4:40
When your boat is sinking below you, it can be very hard to have faith! Best we strive every day to live faithful lives, so when a time of challenge comes, we can rise to it.
