St. Aidan's December 2021 ROTA

St. Aidan's October-November 2021 ROTA
Jesus answered Pilate, "My Kingdom is not from this world." John 18:36
Both his followers and opponents assumed Jesus' kingdom would be in the land of Judea. But Jesus was preaching a much greater kingdom, a world-wide realm of justice, of love, of peace. We participate in that realm through our faith and the way we treat on another.

ANGEL TREE IS COMING TO ST AIDAN'S
As we have for the past few years, St Bridget's Daughters of the King is assisting our Parish with providing families of incarcerated people with Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree Program. We will be hanging Angels on our special tree in the church soon.  Each Angel will have names & ages of children with gift requests. St Aidan's has been so generous in the past with this project. The families have been very appreciative of our help to make their Christmas Day a happier one.
Thanks to all!
Join us for Adult Forum on Sunday mornings at 8:45.- 9:15.

We’re exploring together "The Way of Love". Join us, a cup of coffee is waiting.

The Way of Love is a way of life. More than a program or curriculum, it is a set of practices in our journey as disciples. Each Sunday we will look at a different practice: Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, Go, Rest. All materials will be provided.
Sustaining Earth, Our Island Home
“I would like to share with you an initiative from the National Episcopal Church's office of the Most Rev. Michael Curry. "Sustaining Earth, Our Island Home" tackles the Episcopal Church's pledge for the care of creation and provides support for individuals and parishes seeking to take those incremental steps toward living in a more sustainable, moral manner when it comes to the impact we have upon the Earth and our capacity to continue to live on it. To paraphrase Bishop Bascom the biggest environmental problems are not biodiversity, water usage, or climate change but greed, selfishness, and apathy.

To learn more about this program, please visit http://www.sustainislandhome.org/ and enroll yourself in this program. Please remember to list St. Aidan’s, Olathe as your parish. Our Bishop will reward the parish with the most participation.”

Thanksgivings and Prayers

Thanksgivings – Birthdays & Anniversaries
We give thanks for the birthday of Ethan Jayaram. We give thanks for the people of St. Aidan’s and the privilege of serving each other, our church and our community throughout the year. We give thanks for the faithfulness and resilience of St. Aidan's parish as we all work together during this difficult time, finding new ways to stay connected in spite of the challenges.

Cycle of Prayer –
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Anglian Church in the Falkland Islands.

In the World Council of Churches Cycle of Prayer we pray for the people of Cameroon, Central African Republic and Equatorial Guinea.

In the Kansas Cycle of Prayer, we pray for campus ministries across the diocese.

For Our Parish Leadership –
We pray for our rector, Rev. Tom Baker and his wife, Cherie. We pray for the members of the Vestry: Senior Warden Jane Bush, Mark Sappenfield, Sarah Smith, Kathy Mencer, Bonnie Eckel, Clarice Ewing and Paul Reed; for the Vestry Clerk, Janet Seifert; for our Treasurer, Tim Tatlock; and for our delegates, Carolyn Sturgeon, and Sarah Smith.

For Our Troops, Veterans, and Law Enforcement –
Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women in the service and law enforcement at home and broad. Defend them with your grace; give them courage; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence; through Jesus Christ. Amen.

For the Departed –
Eternal Lord God, you hold all souls in life: Give to your whole Church in paradise and on earth your light and your peace; and grant that all your faithful people may at the last enter into your unending joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Guidance and Grace
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

 For Healing –
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servants, and give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs, that those for whom our prayers are offered may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
