Fr. Tom's Talk ...
Bishop Bascom has instructed all churches in the Diocese to cease in-person worship and church meetings until December 13, 2020. While we have been enjoying in-person worship and events Covid cases are skyrocketing.

Sunday services, with Spiritual Communion, will be live on the St. Adian's Facebook page on Sunday, November 22, 29, and December 6 at 10 a.m. Remember, you don’t have to join Facebook to watch. On those same dates, Adult Form will be on zoom at 9 - 9:30 a.m., the link and password will be posted in Unison.

Commitment Sunday service scheduled for Nov. 22 will also be held on Facebook at 10am. I’m certain your generosity to St. Aidan’s will continue. Please remember to fill out your pledge card and drop it in the collection this Sunday, Nov 15 or you may mail/return it to the church office by the 22nd. The office will remain open during normal hours.

From now until Easter 2021, a color-coded guide will be posted on the Diocesan website that indicates the severity of COVID in each Kansas county where there is a church. The color-coding is based on the 14-day averages of 10 percent test positivity rate, and per-week incidence rate of 100 per 100,000 cases. If levels rise above both a 10 percent test positivity and a 100 per 100,000 incidence rate, the Bishop will consider suspension of indoor in-person worship for at least an additional two weeks after Dec. 13 across the diocese. For now, let’s hope that we will see each other again on Dec. 13. Please hold one another in prayer during this difficult time.

Please let me know if you’d like to sit down and talk or enjoy a coffee, at a social distance of course, or feel free to call me at 785-670-0158, or email me at tbaker1102@yahoo.com. My office hours are Monday - Thursday 10 am - 3 pm. … Fr. Tom
"But the one who had received the one talent went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.” Matthew 25:18
We all know how this parable ends… the slave who ‘protected’ his master’s money was later condemned for his hesitancy and lack of imagination. Good stewards seek out ways to use their talents on behalf of the God who gave them to us.

St. Bridget's Chapter of the Daughters of the King - Food Ministry!
St. Bridget's Order of the Daughters of the King has started an all-parish food ministry. We will strive to keep on hand at the church seven grocery paper bags of food (with a long shelf-life) to be available for Father Tom to give as needed.
We will use the Harvesters' Most Wanted Food List to guide us in filling our grocery bags. We invite any parishioner who would like to help with this ministry to contact any Daughter on Sunday after church or text/call Carolyn Sturgeon at (913) 499-9375

BackSnack Pick-up and Delivery
St. Aidan’s is in our second decade of working with five Olathe Elementary Schools in this important ministry.

Drivers should plan to be at the church about 2:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 28, and we will load the correct number of boxes in your vehicle for delivery on Friday. If for some reason you can’t make it on Wednesday afternoon, let me know, and we will leave your boxes in the narthex. Please remember to wear PPE (masks and gloves) when you deliver to your respective schools on Thursday.

Attached is the Back Snack Pack and Delivery Schedule for the 2020-2021 school year.

Thanksgivings and Prayers

Thanksgivings –
We give thanks for the birthdays of Leo Lynn, Barb Belt and Kurt Gordon. We give thanks for the anniversary of Douglas and Tiffany Mays. We give thanks for the people of St. Aidan’s and the privilege of serving each other, our church and our community throughout the year. We give thanks for the faithfulness and resilience of St. Aidan's parish as we all work together during this difficult time, finding new ways to stay connected in spite of the challenges.

Cycle of Prayer –
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain. In the World Council of Churches Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the people of Republic of Congo, Gabon, and Sao Tome and Principe. In the Kansas Cycle of Prayer, we pray for St. Bartholomew’s at St. John’s, Wichita.

For Our Parish Leadership –
We pray for our rector, Rev. Tom Baker and his wife, Cherie. We pray for the members of the Vestry: Senior Warden Julie Wojtas, Jane Bush, Mark Sappenfield, Sarah Smith and Kathy Mencer; for the Vestry Clerk, Carolyn Sturgeon; for our Treasurer, Tim Tatlock; and for our delegates, Carolyn Sturgeon, and Sarah Smith.

For Our Troops, Veterans, and Law Enforcement –
Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women in the service and law enforcement at home and broad. Defend them with your grace; give them courage; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence; through Jesus Christ. Amen.

For the Departed –
Eternal Lord God, you hold all souls in life: Give to your whole Church in paradise and on earth your light and your peace; and grant that all your faithful people may at the last enter into your unending joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Guidance and Grace
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

 For Healing –
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servants, and give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs, that those for whom our prayers are offered may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
