St. Aidan's Episcopal Church

The mission of St. Aidan's is to make disciples by proclaiming Christ as Lord and making a difference in our community.

St. Aidan's Feast Day!
It has been said, “A picture says a thousand words.” That’s certainly true of our 165th anniversary celebrated on Sunday, August 27.
Over the decades we can’t begin to imagine the countless number of lives we’ve touched with the love of God. We’ve baptized, married, and bid farewell to friends and family members.
We've shared friendship and fellowship over thousands of cups of coffee and acres of cakes and cookies, thrown parties, watched movies, fed and supported our community.

And at our table, and all the tables and altars, where the faithful gathered first in homes, then in Emmanuel Church, then in a school, and finally in St. Aidan's we have been fed the bread of heaven and drank the cup of salvation in memory of Jesus.
It is said we are small but mighty. I believe there is absolutely nothing small about us. We are St Aidan’s. We’ve been here 165 years and the best years are yet to come.

This Sunday, September 24, we kick off our 2023 Stewardship Campaign, “Catch the Fire. Share the Fire,” based on Exodus 3:1-15, the story of the burning bush.

“Catch the fire” reminds us that everything we have, everything we’ve been given, is a gift from God. That each of us have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit.

“Share the fire” is our pledge to sustain the ministries of St. Aidan’s. The fire of your pledge fuels our mission to make disciples by proclaiming Christ as Lord and helps us make a difference in our community. Be watching for your pledge cards in October.

Stewardship Prayer

Holy God
Like Moses
We have caught the fire of your love
All that I have
All that I am
Are a gift from You
Give me the grace to share the fire you have given me
To sustain the flames of St. Aidan’s torch.
In the name of the Living Fire of God
Christ our Lord. Amen

Thanksgiving in Action!
St. Aidan’s will once again be collecting food for the First Christian Church of Olathe’s 'Thanksgiving in Action' program.

You may purchase all the following items and bring them to the church any Sunday between now and November 12th. Each box is supposed to feed a family of 4 (for larger families, they will get 2 boxes). Last year we supplied 35 boxes. Can we match it this year?

1 jar Turkey Gravy

1 can sweet potatoes

1 pkg small marshmallows

3 cans green beans

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 pkg or can of French-fried onion rings

1 graham cracker pie crust

1 pkg of instant pudding

1 box brownie mix

1 can cranberry sauce

2 cans whole kernel corn

1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix

1 can of fruit

1 pkg stuffing mix

1 pkg instant mashed potatoes

1 pkg Jello

1 48-oz bottle cooking oil

1 4-lb bag sugar

1 bag of chips or pretzels

First Christian Church Olathe will add a turkey, a container of whipped topping and a package of dinner rolls when we distribute these groceries the week before Thanksgiving. We will also distribute a bag of all purpose flour during the month of December.

Thank you for your generous support of this program.
