From the Desk of the Rector.... A very special and busy February The month of February this year is unique and at the same time, very busy for us. If you look at the printed calendar you will notice a phenomenon that won’t happen again for 800 years. There are exactly four full weeks with four Sundays, four Saturdays and four of each day of the week. Not bad for a month that also serves as the month that balances out leap year rotations with give and take of a day every four years! We also have Valentines Day, for all of you smitten lovers out there and February is also celebrated by many as “Black History Month”. President’s Day is also Monday the 16th . For St. Aidan’s, we will be holding our Annual Meeting and celebrated the past year along with preparing ourselves for the 2026. We will meet in the parish hall after the10:00 am Eucharist. You won’t want to miss this! This year, we also start our liturgical season of Lent with Shrove Tuesday on February 17 th with the consumption of as many pancakes as you can eat. (More details about that will be coming as we get closer to the day) The following day we begin our Lenten observance with Ash Wednesday. There will be an abbreviated service at Noon with the dispensation of ashes alone. Later at 6:00, we will have ashes along with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Our first Wednesday of the Lenten Series and Dinner will be Wednesday, February 25th starting at 6:00. Bring your favorite soup or salad to share with those gathered. We will be watching and discussing musical renditions of the Gospel stories from “The Cotton Patch Gospel”, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Godspell”. I am anticipating a fun yet revealing exploration of how Jesus’ story is shared from different viewpoints, just as it takes 4 Gospels to convey the one full story. Come and join us for a fun and moving series! It’s a busy month, however uniquely special as the days and special events roll out. I hope to see you as we gather for ashes, spiritual worship, some good food, fellowship and meaningful insights into the life of Jesus. February 2026 most certainly will be special and rewarding! Fr. Diocesan Happenings Great is God's Faithfulness Feb 9, 2026, 9am-11:30am, Great is God’s Faithfulness, Zoom We all need a “bridge over troubled waters” yet we seldom intentionally learn what the scriptures, and spiritual teachers have to say about the importance of grief in our lives. This zoom course is for people who desire to spend some time reflecting on the positive process of grief that energizes us for new ways of being, living and trusting God. link Bishop Search Meet and Greets for the Bishop candidates will be May 5-8, May 5 in Lawrence/KC and May 8 in Topeka. More to come  Young Adult Spiritual Retreat This is a spiritual retreat for people who seek God amid a fragmented and at times frenzied experience of the demanding realty of being alive. Come and spend a day reflecting on the pathway to a more integrated life that fosters wholeness in body, mind and spirit. Explore Christian contemplative practices that assist finding the One who longs for you, calls you beloved, and whose desire is to bring you an abundant life of wonder and curiosity.  This retreat will include times for group and individual reflection, prayer and meditation, time in nature, mindful movement, and periods of silence. Come and see and simply be. Snow Much Fun! With our recent snow day, our youngest parishioner Holly was spotted helping clean the drive. Will work for hot chocolate with marshmallows.

BackSnack Program 2026--2027 St. Aidan’s is partnering again with Harvesters in the Backsnack program. This year we will be partnering with four Olathe Elementary Schools. Thanks to all our faithful volunteers that make this ministry possible. For more information on the BackSnack program, please contact Don Seifert at [email protected] Thanks to all our faithful volunteers that make this ministry possible. For more information on the BackSnack program, please contact Don Seifert at [email protected] Johnson County Food Ministry at Center of Grace St. Aidan's helps prepare and hand out meals at Center of Grace in Olathe, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Dinner prep is at 3:00 pm and at 5:00 pm we distribute food at Center of Grace. Next Outreach at Center of Grace is on February 26th, 2026 *** Also, we need your help by bringing individually wrapped desserts for the Center of Grace to St. Aidan's by noon on that Thursday.
