Sacred Listening Circles

Do you desire a Christian group where you can share what is going on in your life and be met with prayerful listening? Group Spiritual Direction is an intentionally cultivated space to share the spiritual journey with others. The purpose is to encourage one another in your walk with God. The outcome is a sense of shared joy and deepening confidence as you more fully live out of your spiritual convictions and commitment.

A program of Group Spiritual Direction will be offered in the diocese starting this fall.

Through monthly small groups (4-5 persons), participants will gather to pray and share where they sense the presence of God in their lives. The small group serves as a spiritual director/companion in listening and helping each person discern their spiritual path. These groups become sacred listening circles as they pray for one another.

An orientation for the program will be held on Saturday, August 16th, at Upton Hall in Topeka. Participation in the orientation is required for participation in the listening groups. The program is open to anyone in the diocese, lay and clergy.

The orientation will be in-person in Topeka; groups that are formed, however, will most likely meet on Zoom so participants will not have to travel. The orientation will be held at Upton Hall from 10 am – 2 pm, August 16th. The cost is $20 for lunch.

For more information, contact Rev. Mary Becker, Deacon for Diocesan Spiritual Life. Deacon Mary is a trained facilitator of the groups, receiving her training from Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation.
