St. Aidan's updates

Bishop Election Input

The Election of a Bishop is coming! The annual Church Convention will take place October 23-24 at Grace Cathedral in Topeka. Jane Bush and Carolyn Sturgeon will attend along with Father Steve and take part in electing the bishop. Last month we had several opportunities to hear from the 4 candidates. We would like to get your impressions if you were able to attend any of the meet and greet sessions, or view any of them on the district website. At the coffee hour following the October 18 service, Jane and Carolyn will be available to hear your comments on thoughts about the 4 candidates. Or feel free to email [email protected] or [email protected] if you are unavailable to visit after the service. We would appreciate your input.

Want to view the candidates and their answers to questions submitted by diocesan members? The diocese has a youtube channel with the 4 meet and greets. Over the 4 sessions each candidate answers all 28 questions submitted. But you can get a clear picture of the candidates by watching one meet and greet. (Truth time, I watched 2 on the plane returning from scotland and the third in the Boston airport during our layover) 1 to go.

Thanksgiving in Action

This will be the fifth year that St. Aidan's has participated in the First Christian Church of Olathe's Thanksgiving in Action program. For those new to St. Aidan's, this is a collection of food for a Thanksgiving meal for those in need. There is a list of groceries that, if you are interested, you will purchase and bring to St. Aidan's on or before November 15, 2026. The First Christian Church will add a turkey or chicken, whipped topping, butter and rolls and the boxes will be distributed on November 19th. Last year each box cost roughly $35.00 depending on where you like to shop. If you would like for the Seiferts to shop for you, just put a check in the offering plate with a memo stating it is for Thanksgiving in Action, or we do take cash. Grocery List for Thanksgiving Food Distribution at First Christian Church Olathe. Boxes are due at St. Aidan's on or before November 15th.

Please collect these items in a box.

1 jar Turkey Gravy

1 can sweet potatoes

1 pkg small marshmallows

3 cans green beans

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 pkg or can of French-fried onion rings

1 graham cracker pie crust

1 pkg of instant pudding

1 box brownie mix

1 can cranberry sauce

1 can whole kernel corn

1 can cream corn

1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix

1 can of fruit

1 pkg instant mashed potatoes

1 pkg Jello

1 48-oz bottle cooking oil

1 4-lb bag sugar

1 26 oz container of Salt

(Note: This is four a family of 4. If there are more in the family, they will get 2 boxes.)

BackSnack Program

St. Aidan’s is partnering again with Harvesters in the Backsnack program. This year we will be partnering with four Olathe Elementary Schools.

Johnson County Food Ministry at Center of Grace

St. Aidan's helps prepare and hand out meals at Center of Grace in Olathe, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Dinner prep is at 3:00 pm and at 5:00 pm we distribute food at Center of Grace.

Next Outreach at Center of Grace is on October 22, 2026

*** Also, we need your help by bringing individually wrapped desserts for the Center of Grace to St. Aidan's by noon on that Thursday.
