Fr. Tom's Talk ...
When you hear the word “Stewardship,” what do you think of? Money, obligation...or gratefulness? When Jesus talked about money and material goods he was really talking about how we use what God has given us. When we talk about Stewardship in the church we sometimes forget that it is really about what we do with all the gifts God has given us.
In the Genesis creation story we are not given power over creation. God asks us to watch over, care for, and protect creation. Stewardship is really all about God and our relationship with God.
Don’t get me wrong, we are talking about money. But we’re also talking about all the other gifts God has given us. Your family and friends, your life, St. Aidan’s, your talent, your time, the gift of prayer and the gift of witness (if you’re wondering what witness means, that’s coming next week). As we enter our Stewardship season, prayerfully consider how are you using all of these gifts for the glory of God?
Please let me know if you’d like to sit down and talk or enjoy a coffee, at a social distance of course, or feel free to call meat 785-670-0158, or email me at email@example.com.My office hours are Monday - Thursday 10 am - 3 pm. … Fr. Tom
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart...and your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37, 39
The kind of love that Jesus commands requires commitment, action, and courage. Perhaps that’s why it’s so frequently ignored! Jesus was not offering pious platitudes, but a course of action.
